A card that brightens someone’s day, a handwritten note that lets someone know they were thought of today, a thoughtfully designed notepad that makes a long to-do list feel just a little less overwhelming—That’s what we want to create at ShaLen Designs—beautiful, and useful stationery that has a place in everyday life, helps us connect and celebrate with the people we care about, brings a little order to the everyday chaos, or simply makes an ordinary day feel a little brighter.
Because sometimes a small piece of paper can do a surprisingly big job.
Hello! We're Shannon and Lenora
We’re the sisters behind ShaLen Designs. Shannon is the artist and Lenora is the computer nerd that loves taking art and turning it into digital creations. Both of us love photography, nature, animals, and turning small sparks of inspiration into something that is both beautiful, practical and useful.
For us, inspiration can start almost anywhere—a photograph, a color combination, a flower along the side of the road, a funny moment, something goofy our pets are doing, or simply noticing that something useful could also be a whole lot prettier too. From there, we turn those ideas into stationery, cards, printables, patterns, and other little things designed for real life.
Our Vision
We believe that life is made of many small, beautiful moments. Our mission is to craft thoughtful, intentional products and personal stationery. We try to ensure every piece we craft serves a true purpose and inspires genuine connection.
Inspiration starts with noticing
A little cluster of flowers among the river stones, found while hiking in the PNW. The colors of an afternoon sky, or a detail that makes us want to stop and get a closer look, or take some photos.
“What a great view” often turns into, “that would make a great greeting card photo!”, or “that would make an awesome bookmark this could be!” or “I could see me writing a letter with that as my background!”
Sometimes it’s the small discoveries that lead to favorite creations. And we love sharing those with others so that they can feel that same feeling of joy that we felt when we first saw them too.
Why We Create Digitally
We love paper but we also love the environment, from where we pull our inspiration and joy. So we want to be thoughtful about when, where and how we use paper so we create as little environmental impact as we can.
Digital downloads let us share designs without using shipping boxes, plastic bags, or making stacks of finished products that sit on shelves, before they are needed/wanted. We know that digital doesn’t mean impact free, but it does mean we’re choosing to try to minimize our environmental impact.
Print the pages you choose to. Maybe you love our card front but want a blank card inside. With digital products you can do that. Choose the paper that suits your project and use recycled papers when it works for you so that your carbon footprint is also minimal. Win/win we say. 🙂
